Norma Booth

Norma Orynthia Booth (née Thresh) passed away in her 97th year on November 5, 2025 in Ottawa, Ontario.

 

Norma was born in Montreal, Quebec on December 14, 1928.

 

Norma is predeceased by her parents William and Orynthia, her brothers Bill and George, her husband Gordon, and her oldest son Iain.

 

Norma is survived by her brother and best friend Eric, her children, Roderick (Joanne), Ewen (Kathleen), Eric (Nancy) and Miriam Dickson (Michael). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Riley, Trevor (Lilian) Jordan (Kathleen), Hilary Evans (Josh), Tanner (Jessica), Andrew Bernard, and her great grandchildren, Emilia, Claire, Ava, Emerson, Isla and Luca, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

 

As a young woman, Norma worked for several years at Canadian Pacific Railway, where she met her future husband, Gordon. Norma was a gifted seamstress, quilter, and a doll-maker.

 

Strongly independent, she loved to travel, both domestically and internationally, and regularly visited her children and grandchildren no matter where they lived. 

 

Norma above all loved her family and cherished her many friends.

 

Her kind smile will be missed by many.

 

A celebration of life will take place at 11:00 hrs on Saturday May 2, 2026 at the Montreal Memorial Garden Chapel located at 3955 Chemin Cote de Liesse, Saint-Laurent, Québec followed by a family burial, and reception.

 

The staff at the Richmond Care Home are to be recognized for their passion, their love and care for making Norma feel at home. A donation to the Richmond Care Home, which is not for profit, would be appreciated.
