Jacques B. Langevin

On November 12, past away peacefully and courageously after a long illness at the age of ninety-five, Lt-Col. Jacques B. Langevin, CM, KCLJ, CMLJ.

Survived by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Monique Bousquet, dearest father of Josée (Jean A .Elie), Denyse (Robert H. Shalhoub), Monique (E. Claude Molleur), Jacques P. (Paule Gauvin), Francine. Dearest grand-papa of Mark Shalhoub ( Lori McPhee), Patrick Molleur, Caroline and Annik Langevin, great grand-papa to Emilie and Sarah Shalhoub . He was predeceased by his brothers Pierre (Louise), Gérard (Françoise), Jean (Jacqueline), and his sisters and brothers-in-law Simone Bousquet, Denise B. Taschereau (late Claude) and Jean Bousquet (Helen). Very special uncle to Maurice (Diane) and Georges (Monique) Taschereau.

At the outbreak of WW11, he served in Iceland and England with Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal. He was recalled to Canada at the Army’s request to attend the Royal Military College’s staff course in Kingston, thereafter holding senior postings at the Army Headquarters in Quebec.

During his successful business career, he held executive positions at Seagram, Miron, and Corby Distilleries from which he retired at the age of seventy-nine. He devoted his personal time to numerous charities and philanthropic organizations including the Montreal Heart Institute. A man of convictions and strong principals, he always remained the true gentleman with an endearing smile. He loved sports, was a natural athlete and his physical fitness was legendary.

The family wishes to thank all his caregivers for their wonderful help and support during these last three years.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Montreal Heart Institute Foundation or the Canadian Arthritis Society would be greatly appreciated.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St Germain d’Outremont church, Côte Sainte-Catherine road and Vincent d’Indy, then to Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
