Joseph Albert Kilkenny
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Albert Kilkenny. Surrounded in love with his family by his side, Joe (Papa Joe), passed away on September 9th at the age of 81 years.
Joe will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 60 years, Sandra; his children Colleen (Michael), Craig (Valerie) and Maureen (Jason); his grandchildren Stephanie (Alex), Philippe (Simona), Catherine (Philippe), Dominique (Patrick), Zack (Maxime), Paul & Joey, Liam (Danielle), Connor (Kelsey); his great grandchildren Nathan, Jacob, Ryan, Aiden, James & Lila.
Joe will also be deeply missed by his brother Patrick (Betty) as well as his many nieces and nephews and a multitude of relatives, friends and neighbours. Joe was predeceased by his sisters Patricia and Tina.
Joe (Papa Joe) was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express. A kind and generous man, Joe lived for his family and was happiest when we were all together. We miss him immensely but hold his spirit and stories in our hearts to live on in his family.
With his kindness, his humour and great stories, Joe touched the lives of all who knew him. His love of animals brought all the neighbourhood dogs to his balcony for treats, all the birds to his front lawn for bread. His great stories brought all the neighbours and even the post-lady to the balcony for hours to visit.
Joe worked for CN Rail for more than three decades and then was retired for more than three decades! Many lifelong friendships were made and oh the stories, they still made Joe laugh wholeheartedly every time he told them.
A special thank you to Dr. Michaud, and all the wonderful nurses from the Verdun CLSC Acute Home Care, for their compassion and care.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, at Urgel Bourgie Funeral Home, 1275 Dollard Ave, Lasalle, H8N 2J1. Visitation 2:00-3:00pm, Memorial Service 3:00-4:00pm & Reception 4:00-6:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Joe to the Verdun CLSC Acute Home Care or the CHUM Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
