Colin Baldock
Colin Baldock
1949 - 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colin Baldock after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born on February 21,1949 to Nelson Baldock and Elizabeth Baldock (Crossan), he is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Margaret (Peggy), his children Michael (Jayme), Leslie (JF) and Erin (Simon) and his grandchildren, Madeline, Nora, Xavier, Ruby, and Willow.
Colin (Skip (as he was known to loved ones)) spent his youth in Rosemount, where he attended Nesbitt Elementary School and then, Rosemount High School, where he met the love of his life, Peggy. Losing his own father at the age of 15 instilled the importance of family and being present for loved ones, something he held onto until the very end. After his tumultuous teenage years (thankfully, Peggy kept him in line) Colin eventually found his path in teaching. He started his long and impactful career at Richelieu Valley High School in the 1970s and retired from Heritage Regional High School in 2007. He was well known throughout the south shore community, and he left a lasting impression on multiple generations of students. Colin was always up for good conversation, running into him at a grocery store meant you’d be there for a while. He was a poet, an artist, and loved music and history. He was proud of his children and was the best grumpy Grandpa around, never missing a chance to tease his grandkids and tell them he loved them. He lived his life on his own terms and even in death, left very specific instructions. He wanted a celebration of life with “good people”, “good drinks”, and “good music”.
We are honoring his last wishes and invite you to a Celebration of Life on July 6th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a short ceremony starting at 4:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in St-Bruno. The ceremony will also have an open mic period where anyone is welcome to share a memory or play a song. Colin loved “Open Mic Nights” at The Legion and would have loved this fitting farewell.
