He resided in Montreal and was the son of the late Patrick Hazel and the late Germaine Matte.

Bernard is mourned by:

His first wife: the late Rita Dufresne.
His second wife: the late Anne-Marie Lauzé.

His biological sons: Michel (Sylvie), François (Diane), Christian (Béatrice), and Bernard-Pierre (Josée).
His biological grandchildren: Samuel, Natan, Méghane, Alexis (Liz), and Mathieu.

He is also mourned by many stepchildren and step-grandchildren, his nieces and nephews, cousins, and numerous relatives and friends.

The family will receive condolences at the Urgel Bourgie / Athos Funeral Complex, located at 3955 Côte-de-Liesse Road, Ville Saint-Laurent, on May 31, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by a ceremony at the complex.
