We regret to announce the passing of François Racine, engineer, at his home in Outremont on March 30, 2025. He was 89 years old. He is survived by his life partner Monique Goineau (married for 62 years), his son Rémi (Maud), as well as his grandchildren, Sabrina & Hugo.

He is also survived by his sister Élaine (Jean-Marc), his late brother Jean-Luc, his nieces and nephews Julie, Sophie, Mathieu, Luc Jr., his brother-in-law Marcel and Marcel’s children, Martin, Véronique & Catherine.

A graduate in mechanical/electrical engineering from Polytechnique in 1959 and a pioneer in the field of energy efficiency, he spent his entrepreneurial career seeking innovative, more economical, and efficient solutions. Always keenly interested in current affairs, he wrote, at the age of 84, a report titled “Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Quebec through Off-Peak Electric Heating” — doing his part, as he liked to say.

The family will receive condolences on Friday, April 25 starting at 4:00 PM, followed by a mass at 5:30 PM at:
