Athanasios Gomatos
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Athanasios Gomatos on March 31st, 2025, at the age of 100.
Athanasios Gomatos
In loving memory of a remarkable life that spanned a century, we celebrate the journey
from April 5, 1925 to March 31, 2025.
With a heart full of wisdom and a spirit that touched many,
his cherished soul graced the world with compassion.
He leaves to mourn his loving children, Peter & Soula and Jimmy & Voula, who stood by him with devotion and care.
He will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren: Tina, Tommy and Jon, Tina and Paolo, and Tommy James — each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.
His great-grandchildren, Francesco and James, had the special ability to light up his face with joy, no matter how much pain he was in. Their presence brought him comfort, strength, and a sparkle that reminded everyone of the love he carried in his heart.
He also leaves behind his dear compatriots from his beloved hometown of Loganiko, which held a special place in his heart. A proud son of Loganiko, he was deeply connected to his village and to everyone who stepped into his home seeking comfort and healing. As a skilled practitioner, he selflessly helped countless people overcome injuries and pain, offering care with humility and compassion.
Even his family pets — Myko, Kairo, Diva, and Dexter — felt the warmth of his presence and the quiet kindness he extended to all living beings. His gentle spirit will be missed by every soul who knew him.
He will forever be remembered by many beloved family members and dear friends whose lives he touched.
His family will receive condolences at the Funeral Complex Urgel Bourgie/Athos, 1255 Av. Beaumont, Mont-Royal, H3P 3J1 on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, from 4pm to 8pm.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at 11am at Koimisis Tis Theotokou Church, 7700 Av. de l'Épée, H3N 2E6.
The burial service will be held at the Notre-Dame-de-l’Espérance Cemetery at 1pm.
In his final days, Athanasios received outstanding care and comfort at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence. To honor his memory, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the residence. Contributions can be made at:
