Daras, Ioannis John
1965 – 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ioannis John Daras in Montreal on January 25, 2025, at the age of 59.

John was the devoted husband of Rosella Manzo Daras and the proud father of Leonidas Daras. He was the beloved son of Ekaterini and the late Leonidas Daras, and the cherished brother of Metaxia (George Tsopeis). He leaves behind his in-laws Giuseppe and Teresa Manzo, as well as his brother-in-law Romolo and companion Gabriella Ferri. He was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews: Jordan Tsopeis, Maria Tsopeis (Jean Sébastien Chassé), Katerina Tsopeis, Maria Teresa Manzo Fadda (Giovanni Fadda), Joseph Manzo (Vanessa D’Addetta Manzo).

John’s memory will also be treasured by his many godchildren, friends, and extended family both in Canada and abroad.

Known for his infectious joie de vivre, John had a personality that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered for his love of cuddles, his passion for food, and his boundless enthusiasm for the sun and the sea. His wisdom and insightfulness sparked meaningful conversations that left a lasting impact on all who engaged with him.

The family will receive condolences at Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex (1255 Beaumont, Mount-Royal, QC) on February 2, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Église Koimisis Tis Theotokou (7700 Av. de l’Épée, Montreal, QC H3N 2E6) on February 3, 2025, at 10 a.m.

The burial will take place at the Repos Saint-François D'Assise cemetery located at 6893 Sherbrooke Street East, Montréal at the Speranza Mausoleum  at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Église Koimisis Tis Theotokou Church, in memory of Ioannis John Daras.
