John Michaël Farhat

After a valiant fight with cancer, it is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our prince on May 20th, 2009 at the tender age of twenty-one. He is deeply cherisished by his father Faisal, his mother Caroline and his brother Edward. He is lovingly missed by his grandmothers Lynda, Renee, his uncles and aunts; Sam (Sandy), Nancy (Chris), Jacquie (Raymond), Robert (Andrea), Vienna (Michel), Diana (Abdo) and Lola (Mario); his many cousins: Alex, Ethan, Jackson, Rubi, Mason, Adam, Dave, James, Vanessa, Joe, Romy, Stephanie, Lucianna, Francesca, Priscilla and Paloma.

Michael attended high school at LCC and graduated with honors from John Abbot College. He had a great passion for music and played violin with the West Island Youth Symphony Orchestra. He also loved to play his guitars. He was a black belt in both jujitsu and tae kwon do and also taught martial arts at Lower Canada College. He enjoyed working out and was a personal trainer in his spare time. Michael loved life and had many talents. We are very, very proud of him.

He cherished his family and friends, especially his girlfriend Ashley. He enjoyed traveling and we are grateful he got the chance to see places like: Peru, Lebanon, Greece, London and Paris. He had a quiet dignity, strong heart and the most incredible sense of humor. Michael had the ability to stay positive in the most trying of times. He was an inspiration to all those around him but most notably, was his closeness and unwavering love for his parents and younger brother Edward. It will be difficult to go on without him.

We would like to thank his doctors, nurses and staff at the Montreal General Hospital, Montreal Children’s Hospital and CLSC of Lac St. Louis; especially, Dr. Alcindor, Dr. Chaput, Dr. Reza, Dr. Moroz, and all the nurses on the 10th floor of the Palliative Care Unit. You are all angels.
Also, a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda MD. We will never forget you for the love and care you have shown Michael.

A special thank you to his friend Chris Castellano and his teacher Denis Heward for their love and support. Teachers and Class of 2005 at LCC...we love you.
