Roland St-Amour
Today we mourn the passing of a great man and at the same time celebrate his life, as it is so worth celebrating.
Married to Kathleen Bernadette Craven (deceased 1998) for 55 years. Beloved Father to Leslie (deceased) (Carol), David (Terry), Denis (Marie) and Donald (Kathy), 8 loving grandchildren, (Susan, Jason, Christiane, Chantal, James, Caroline, Megan and Christopher) and 5 great-grandchildren, (Stella, Lillian, Samantha, Thomas and Jack). Survived by sisters Claire, Rita and Therese, and brothers Claude, Maurice (deceased) and Rene (deceased).
Roland lived a very full life having accomplished much in his personal and business life.
A key figure in the building of the Saint Lawrence Seaway as Chief of Purchasing, Chief of Procurement and Interim General Manager for Hydro Quebec in its building and formative years. However, his crowning business achievement was as one of the pioneers of the Career Transition business in North America, first with The Cyberna Group and latterly with DBM Montreal, as one of the founding Partners. What made Roland so proud was that he had the opportunity to make an often critical difference in the lives of so many people, often during a challenging time in their lives. He was a passionate worker and seeker of excellence in all that he did, while at the same time mentoring and encouraging more people than could be counted. Roland worked full time until the age of 74 and then as a volunteer until three months before his death. Rare is it a person can leave a personal or business legacy, Roland accomplished both and his name and the impact of his achievements will live long beyond his years on earth.
Roland proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy for five and a half years during WWII and was fiercely proud of his Country and Province.
Roland will be sadly missed by his family and colleagues and the thousands of lives he so positively touched over so many years.
