Katherine Kovanis

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Mrs. Katherine Kovanis on May 27, 2026, in Montreal, at the age of 63.

She was the heart of our family – a gentle soul whose kindness, strength, and unconditional love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.  Strong-willed and resilient, she carried herself with grace throughout every chapter of her life, including her illness, which she faced with remarkable courage and dignity.

Her greatest joy was her family.  She loved her daughter and grandchildren deeply and devoted herself to ensuring that kindness, love, and respect were passed on to them.  Her laughter filled our homes and her presence made even ordinary moments feel special.  Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide us every day.  Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the countless lives she touched.  May she rest peacefully, surrounded by eternal love.

She leaves behind to mourn her daughter, Effie Andreadakis (Baron), her sister, Koula Kovanis (Costa), her brother, Loukas Kovanis (Josée), her grandchildren, Dante and Damiano, her nephews, Bill (Pamela, son Tommy) and George, as well as her nieces, Angelique (Massimo) and Amanda.  She also leaves in mourning countless cousins and friends around the globe.

The family will receive condolences on June 5, 2026, at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex, located at 1255 Beaumont Avenue, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A religious service will be held on June 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Koimisis Tis Theotokou Church, located at 7700 de l’Épée Avenue, Montreal.

This will be followed by the burial at Jardin Urgel Bourgie Rive-Sud, located at 8145 Chemin de Chambly, Saint-Hubert.  Following the burial, the family will return to the church to receive guests for coffee.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Cedars Cancer Foundation.
