Benjamin Cortes II, age 81, passed away on May 22, 2026. He was born in the Philippines on April 18, 1945, and later relocated to Canada, where he settled and raised his family.

Benjamin was employed at the Jewish General Hospital for 25 years. In his personal time, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Cortes, and his daughter, Marie Cortes (Mark Pietrangelo).

Benjamin is also survived by his siblings and their families:

His sister, Dinah Cortes Domagas (Julian), and their son, Joseph Cortes Domagas.

His sister, Divina Cortes Oliveros, and her children, Donna Oliveros and Domini Basay.

His niece Desiree Cortes and nephew Dennis Cortes II (Danilo † and Justina †).

His sister-in-law, Marissa Cortes (Danilo † ) and daughter Danise Cortes. 

His sister-in-law, Salong Cortes (Delano †), and children Paolo, Dino, and Dayan Cortes.

His sister-in-law, Glenda (Dean † ) and son Derek Cortes .

He was predeceased by his parents, Delfin F. Cortes and Maria Paz Grande Cortes, and his siblings, Danilo Cortes (and his sister-in-law Justina Cortes), Dennis Cortes, Delano Cortes, and Dean Cortes.

Service Details

Services will be held at the Urgel Bourgie/Athos Funeral Home, located at 6700 Beaubien East in Montreal, on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
