Roslyn Burth Knight
Roslyn “Rose” Ionie Burth Knight, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at CHSLD Marcelle Ferron, Brossard, Quebec. Born on May 29, 1942, in Westmoreland, Jamaica, Rose was the fourth of ten children born to Percival Alexander and Muriel Cassandra Burth.
In 1966, Rose courageously immigrated to Canada, the third of her siblings to do so. She began her career as a domestic support worker and later trained as a nurse’s aide, working in a Montreal doctor’s office before dedicating forty-five years of service to the residents of the Griffin McConnell Nursing Home. Her compassion, work ethic, and gentle spirit touched countless lives.
In July 1967, Rose met the love of her life, Glen Knight, and the two married in 1968. Their union was a remarkable partnership that spanned 57 years, defined by devotion, laughter, faith, and unwavering companionship. Rose and Glen were inseparable serving their church, raising their children, and building a home filled with warmth and generosity. Rose passed exactly two months to the day after Glen, on a Sabbath like his, completing a love story that was whole and divinely timed.
Rose’s commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist faith spanned more than 50 years in total. Of that time, over 45 years were devoted to faithful service at the Westmount Seventh-day Adventist Church. During her decades in Westmount, she served as Head Deaconess, led the Hospitality Committee, and guided the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Community Service Department with unwavering dedication. She supported new immigrants, coordinated major purchases and Christmas box distributions, prepared meals for the homeless, and made sure no one spent the holidays alone. The Knight home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always giving.
Her lifelong devotion to the Seventh-day Adventist Church continued after retirement, when she and her husband returned to Jamaica. There, they continued to volunteer their time and energy in service to the Lord, completing the remainder of their more than 50 years of commitment to the SDA Church.
She is survived by her children Mark (wife Sherlyn) and Nadine (partner Sean); her cherished grandchildren Davia, Elijah, Mischa, and Myles; her siblings Joyce, Lena, Reggie, and Delta; Brother-in-Law, Carl and Sister-in Law, Grace and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She is predeceased by siblings Sheldrick ,Eulyn, Dufton, Estie, Remie, and Howard.
Rose will be remembered for her radiant smile, her unmatched cooking, her generosity, and her deep love for her family, friends and community. Her legacy of service and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
