Peter Delaportas
Peter Delaportas
April 17, 1962 – December 7, 2025
With heavy sadness, and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Peter Delaportas, who died peacefully on December 7th with his family by his side.
Peter was known for his kindness, his loyalty, and his giving nature. He was exceptionally friendly and welcomed everyone with a warm smile. Always ready to talk and always willing to lend a hand. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Peter was well-liked and respected in the many years he spent in the elevator trade. After retiring in 2020, he had no trouble keeping himself occupied. He was a man of many talents, with a passion for D.I.Y. projects, electronics, and personal projects around the home. With his determination and remarkable depth of knowledge, there was no problem he couldn’t tackle. Regardless of the hour, you could call him and he would show up, ready to help. His generosity with his time and his willingness to support others were hallmarks of who he was. When he had some time to himself, Peter loved connecting with friends online, playing his latest favorite game and sharing conversations and laughter along the way.
He had a gift for seeing the good in others and lifting them up with confidence, hope, and guidance. One of his greatest joys in life was being a grandfather. “Papou” cherished each grandchild and made every one of them feel important and deeply loved.
Peter was a devoted and loving son who shared an exceptionally close bond with his mother, Sotiria. They continuously cared for one another, never going a day without seeing each other or speaking on the phone.
Above all, Peter’s love for his wife, Joanne, was unwavering and evident to all. They shared 45 years together, a life shaped by his loyalty, dedication, and strong family values. Some of their favorite daily rituals included walking their dog, Harold and watching films together in the evenings. Sharing his favourite meal of the day, breakfast, with their close friends on the weekend was a tradition he always looked forward to.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; his four children, Sarah (Cian), Tyler (Megahn), Brandon (Kat), and Bridget (Luca); his mother, Sotiria; his cherished grandchildren, Fionn, Henry, Holden, and Harlow; his sister, Anna; and his brother, George. He joins his father, Theodore.
May Peter forever live in our hearts and in our memories.
