Daryl Sullivan
The Royal Canadian Hussars Association offers its condolences to the family and friends of Corporal (retired) Daryl E. Sullivan, who, from 1972 to 1978, served with the Royal Canadian Hussars at the Cote-des-Neiges Armoury in Montreal. Daryl passed away on the 28 July 2025, at the age of 67.
While growing up in Saint-Henri and Verdun, Daryl enrolled successively in the Navy cadets then the Army cadets. When he became eligible to join the reserves, he enrolled with the Royal Canadian Hussars (Montreal), where his sister Rosalie Sullivan also served as a finance clerk. While serving with the Hussars, he volunteered for a six-month deployment, from November 1977 to April 1978, with the 73rd Canadian Signal Squadron, in Ismailia, Egypt, where the squadron provided and operated the communications infrastructure for the Second United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF II).
Upon his return, Daryl opted to continue his military career with the regular forces, first in Halifax as a submariner and electrical technician in the Navy, and then, as a Leopard tank Mark 4 driver with the Royal Canadian Dragoons for four years in Germany. In 1984, Daryl was honourably discharged from the Canadian Armed Forces with the rank of Corporal.
He is survived notably by his mother Ruby White Sullivan and his siblings Danielle(Kevin) Stockley, Christina Ouellette, Rosalie Sullivan, Shawn Moran and his niece Julie Ouellette and nephew Kevin Jr. Stockley (Selena).
We thank Daryl for his service to his country and to his different units as well as to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
