Arthur Ring
Arthur (Art) Donald Ring, born on 22nd August 1926 in St John, New Brunswick, passed away at Lakeshore General Hospital, Pointe Claire, QC., on Monday, 23rd June 2025 ….almost made it to his 99th birthday!
Being a proud Canadian, Dad joined the Royal Canadian Navy at a very young age to serve in WWII and was assigned to the HMCS Victoriaville. He was never short of stories to tell of his adventures and the places he went to. As a Veteran, he was honoured for his service and was part of a group of WWII veterans (21 of them!) that were flown to The Netherlands in May of this year for the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands in Apeldoorn and attended various ceremonies and events.
He enjoyed swimming and golfing until his early 90’s and his logo was “just keep moving” or “don’t get old”. He enjoyed a good laugh, talking about the weather and listening to hymns. Never without a comb in his pocket, he was proud of his thick head of hair, could read The Economist without glasses and do the daily crossword puzzle. We feel so blessed that he was able to live in his own house until a few days before his passing and that he understood we were there with him to say our goodbyes. Dad was a good provider, a loving husband, caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend and golf buddy.
Dad leaves behind his loving wife Maureen, his children; Alan (Beth), Bruce (Yasmin), Kathy and Jim (Fiona), his sister Audrey, his grandchildren; Adrian, Carly, Graham, Mischa, Chris, Kyle, Evan, Amy, Daniel and Justin as well as great-grandchildren and nieces and Maureen’s daughter Kerry (Walter).
He is preceded in death by his parents: Lena Edna and Albert (Al) James Ring, his first wife Sheena (née Caulfield d.1983) and many more loved ones with whom he is now reunited.
Dad, you had a good life and we are so proud of your accomplishments but we will miss you and will always think of you with great fondness. RIP
