After a fulfilled life, passed away, in Montreal, January 25, 2010 René Provost, businessman favourably known, especially in the field of food distribution (Provost & Provost, Couvrette & Provost and Provigo Inc.).
Born in Montreal on May 1st, 1926, son of J. Omer Provost and Eva Jasmin. Husband of the late Antonia Lyonnais and the father of the late Anne-Marie.
Co-founder of Provigo Inc. he was president of the company and then vice-chairman of the Board. His career spans 52 years. In addition, he has served on several boards of directors of private and public companies and quasi governmental institutions. He also served on various commissions and advisory committees. In Ste-Anne-des-Lacs, he was elections president, churchwarden, counsellor and then mayor of the municipality.
He was the recipient of numerous accolades, certificates and awards for his commercial success and civic, social and humanitarian involvement.
He will be missed by his wife Madeleine Carrière, his sons François (Louise Gohier) and Benoît (France Lussier), his daughter Dominique (Raymond Carrière), his daughter-in-law Doris Gagné, his son-in-law Robert Beaulieu, his grandchildren Amélie, Jean-Pascal, Valérie, Mireille, Eloïse, Vincent, Pierre-Yves and Charles-André, his great grandson Tristan, his stepdaughter Marie-Josée Bertrand (Douglas Cunningham), his stepson Charles-E. Bertrand (Sylvie Bazinet) and their children Simon, Marie-Hélène and Camille. He also leaves several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Fondation PalliAmi (CHUM Notre-Dame), Fondation Hôtel-Dieu de St-Jérome or any other charity of your choice would be appreciated.
