A long-stand tradition in celebrating life.
Urgel Bourgie’s commitment began over one hundred years ago.
In the late 1800s, Henri Bourgie first established the funeral firm Bourgie H. & Co.
and opened the family’s first funeral home.
By the early 1900s, along with his brothers and other family members, Henri Bourgie changed the name of the company to Urgel Bourgie. To meet the evolving needs of its ever-growing clientele, the firm began to expand its offering to include embalming and funeral services. Moreover, a casket and hearse manufacturing facility was built, along with multiple funeral homes across the city of Montréal.
From the mid- to late 1900s, Urgel Bourgie continued to enjoy remarkable growth through successful expansion initiatives and acquisitions of other well-established companies. Acquisitions in the Montréal area included the Parc Commémoratif de Montréal, Jardins Laurentides (St-Hubert), Parc du Souvenir (Laval), and Maisons Funéraires Feron. The company also acquired J. Bouchard et Fils, Lepine Cloutier, Jardins Québec, and Falardeau, Bédard, Roy in the Québec City area.
Today, Urgel Bourgie maintains its market and community leadership as a foreward-looking and innovative network of funeral homes in Montréal. The Urgel Bourgie network employs over 500 people and serves over 10 000 families per year by providing a complete range of funeral, crematory, and cemetery products and services, all of which are offered on both a pre-need and immediate-need basis.
With a management team seasoned with over 30 years experience in the funeral profession, Urgel Bourgie continues to approach the loss of a loved one as a celebration of life. Offering the finest in everything, the Urgel Bourgie team is dedicated and relentless in helping to crystallize the fond memories of a loved one—forever.
